Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.
— Ralph Waldo Emerson

Welcome to Shangri-La Farm!

The Harris family are invoking Vermont’s agricultural heritage by actively creating a quintessential sustainable family farm. Their goal is to provide for their family and to preserve the natural beauty of their land. They produce eggs, maple syrup, and honey, and are developing fruit tree orchards and a network of mountain trails.

About

When we first arrived on this piece of farmland we now call Shangri-La, we felt motivated and led not by our own volition, but rather by the place itself—which seemed to guide us in its care and growth.

EXPLORE

The name Shangri-La gives homage to its original meaning—an earthly paradise, set apart from civilization, where its inhabitants or visitors defy time and age. We truly believe Shangri-La is The Valley Of Enchantment and Forest Of Dreams.

The mountains are calling and I must go.
— John Muir

There is pleasure in the pathless woods, there is rapture in the lonely shore, there is society where none intrudes, by the deep sea, and music in its roar; I love not Man the less, but Nature more.
— Lord Byron
